Challenge
Create a centralised, intuitive platform to discover peer-reviewed women's health research, identify gaps, and track emerging trends. Traditional academic databases are complex and intimidating for non-academic users, creating barriers to evidence-based advocacy.
Process
Designed and prototyped a research discovery interface with four core modules: live search engine with real-time PubMed connectivity, trending topics dashboard with growth analysis, critical research gaps identification, and database access hub. Built live API integration with PubMed and direct access links to Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, and JSTOR to demonstrate comprehensive coverage.

Outcome
Built a working beta tool that healthcare professionals could test, showing how product design can democratise access to medical literature. Search functions already connect to peer-reviewed research, bridging the gap between complex academic databases and user-friendly discovery interfaces.
Reflection
This project demonstrated how thoughtful UX design can make complex medical research more accessible whilst maintaining scientific rigour. By applying systems intelligence to healthcare research discovery, I recognised that access to evidence-based research is essential infrastructure for advancing women's health outcomes.
Key Learnings
Live database integration requires careful API design and error handling in clinical contexts
Medical professionals need different discovery patterns than academic researchers
Research gap analysis becomes a powerful advocacy tool when paired with impact metrics
Accessible design in healthcare tools is not just ethical, it is essential for evidence-based practice
Search Medical LiteratureLive Database Access
Real Database Connections Active
All search buttons connect to live medical databases including PubMed's 35+ million citations, Cochrane Library's systematic reviews, and Google Scholar's academic papers. Click any link to access real research.
